Marshall-Tufflex - Awards

Marshall-Tufflex wins business award for innovation and growth

Marshall-Tufflex wins business award for innovation and growth

Hastings-based cable management market-leader Marshall-Tufflex is celebrating after being named joint winner at the 1066 Business Awards 2015.

The awards, sponsored by the Federation of Small Businesses, recognise companies in 1066 country (Hastings, Rother, St Leonards, Rye, Battle, Ore and Bexhill) which have grown through innovation, forward thinking and sheer hard work, contributing to the area’s prosperity.

Marshall-Tufflex was entered into the Large Business of the Year (50+ employees) category, taking first place. The accolade was presented to Marshall-Tufflex Chief Executive Paul Hetherington at a black tie event held at the Bannantyne Spa Hotel, Hastings, on July 10: Mr Hetherington said: “I am thrilled and delighted that Marshall-Tufflex has been recognised in this way. The company has been committed to Hastings for nearly 60 years and is a major employer in the town, bringing investment and jobs to the area. It is also committed to supporting charities through a charitable trust and has donated almost half a million pounds over the last five years alone. Winning an award such as this is a team effort, so huge thanks must also go to our staff and shareholders for making Marshall-Tufflex the winning business that it is.”

An awards spokesman said: “The battle for judges to find those worthy top businesses across 1066 country was very exciting as they have seen many local companies grow and achieve so much over the past 12 months.”

All 1066 Business Awards winners are entered in to the Johnston Press South Business Awards held at The Grand Hotel, Brighton, in October 2015.

Marshall-Tufflex honoured for commitment to tomorrow’s workforce

Leading cable management manufacturer Marshall-Tufflex has been recognised for its commitment to helping young people find work by picking up an award at the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) Skills Awards.

The awards honour businesses that are committed to developing skills and employment opportunities for job seekers, something that Hastings-based Marshall-Tufflex has championed for several years in tandem with promoting careers in engineering.

East Sussex County Council Chief Executive Becky Shaw told Marshall-Tufflex: “The award recognises your work promoting apprenticeships for new and existing staff to support them to gain essential qualifications and to progress their careers. Moreover your work with local schools and colleges to raise awareness of engineering careers is recognised as building aspirations amongst young people and opening opportunities for them.”

The Churchfields Industrial Estate business was one of the few Sussex organisations shortlisted in the awards. Delighted company Group Personnel Manager Steve Baldry said: “This is great news for Marshall-Tufflex. We have worked hard for several years now to engage with our community to encourage young people to consider a career with us and in engineering. We’ve shown hundreds of school children and students around our factory, attended many careers fairs and actively recruited apprentices. This SELEP award is a well-earned recognition of our efforts and much appreciated.”

Marshall-Tufflex has also just taken on three new apprentices; Sam Humphrey and Jacob Easton are apprentice toolmakers and Max Loring is an apprentice maintenance engineer. All three will study for the BTEC ONC in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering alongside their apprenticeships.

“Sam, Jacob and Max are testament to our on-going commitment to our apprenticeship programme. We welcome them to Marshall-Tufflex and wish them every success in their new positions,” added Steve.
