TROX AITCS Ltd
IT Cooling Systems
TROX Advanced IT Cooling Systems has developed a
range of award winning patented products to protect equipment and
prevent hotspots within data centres and trading floors.
CO2 Cooling
Carbon dioxide (CO2) is an ideal refrigerant,
particularly when considered against ecological and safety criteria.
It is natural, non-flammable, oil-free, chemically inactive and has
zero potential for ozone depletion. It is electrically benign and
does not present a danger to PCs or power and data cabling. CO2 pipe
diameters are much smaller than comparable chilled water pipes,
aiding the deployment of CO2OLdesk™ in existing buildings.
Performance
CO2 is able to absorb over seven times more heat
as it evaporates than an equivalent quantity of water. CO2 vaporises
during the heat absorption in CO2Oldesk™. In contrast with
conventional cooling systems, CO2OLdesk™ can save up to 30% energy.
Data Centres
Blade Server Cooling
The CO2OLrac™ provides 30kW of cooling to each
blade server cabinet, on an N or N+N basis. CO2 refrigerant is piped
to the CO2OLrac™, which is mounted on the cabinet door, and boils
off as it absorbs heat. Liquid CO2 absorbs over seven times more
heat than water.
The CO2OLrac™ has a small footprint and can cut
energy expenditure by 30%.
Other benefits include: a universal design that
can fit any cabinet; hinged access to blades; hot swap fan design
that is compatible with UK and international power supplies;
resilient dual power and CO2 monitoring; and BMS interface and local
connection.
CO2OLbridge™ is an expandable cooling system. The
Day 1 option maximises the existing available CRAC cooling,
delivering up to 10 kW of cooling per rack.
The Day 2 expansion allows the unit to be
connected to CO2, thereby increasing the capacity by 30kW.
Plant Variants
There are three alternative CO2 central plant
options available:
CO2OLpac™ is designed for all buildings that have
sufficient chilled water to meeting cooling demands, but whose
client requires high-capacity cabinet cooling without water.
CO2OLairpac™ is an independent cooling solution
suitable for outdoor applications. It is energy-efficient, combining
a low-energy chiller with CO2 rack cooling.
CO2OLwaterpac™ uses cooling tower water to reject
heat from a low-energy chiller. The packaged system includes a heat
exchanger, receiver vessel and circulating pumps.
Computer Room Cooling - Floor Grilles
CFG fan-assisted floor grilles, installed
directly in front of the IT cabinet, eliminate hotspots by providing
up to 5kW of cooling per cabinet. They have been specifically
developed for installation in raised access floors.
AFG (non-fan powered) and CFG units replace
600x600mm floor tiles, and are suitable for refurbishment and new
build projects. The grilles are designed to suit heavy cabinets
loads within a Data Centre.
Dealer Desks
Trading Desk Cooling
CO2OLdesk™ is a liquid CO2 high-capacity trading
desk cooling system that provides an in-desk microclimate in which
PCs are housed. This provides efficient at-source cooling, creating
an ideal environment for hardware.
CO2OLdesk™ has a slimline construction and can be
installed in shallow floor voids. It complements existing overhead
cooling systems, and can be recessed, semi-recessed or surface
mounted. Trader and monitor cooling are also available.
