Eurovent & A Class Certified, ECA Approved Rhoss Chillers

Coolmation Ltd is the sole UK distributor for Rhoss Spa, one of Italy’s most important chiller and air conditioning equipment manufactures and a subsidiary of the €80million IRSAP Group.

Based in Coidrupo in North Eastern Italy, their 45,000m² manufacturing facility employs 350 people and includes a 1000m² Research and Development laboratory, opened in 2004 at a cost of €1.5million. This laboratory is one of only two in Europe with the capability of testing chillers up to a full capacity of 1500kW in varying climatic conditions and is Eurovent Certified.

Embracing the need for energy efficiency, the Rhoss design and development team, in association with the University of Padova, is following a program of product development which is resulting in a whole new range of energy efficient A class chillers.

Rhoss chillers are Eurovent Certified, most are included on the Carbon Trust Energy Technology list, ECA approved and eligible for the tax concessions made available under the UK Government scheme.

Four Pipe Heat & Cool Chillers

Rhoss have recently launched a new range of their EXP chillers with capacities, from 10kW to approaching 1000kW, and COP’s as high as 6.

What’s special about the EXP system is that unlike a heat pump chiller, the EXP is a completely self contained fully automatic system which can produce hot and chilled water independently and simultaneously and deliver through a 4 pipe system.

In commercial buildings, hospitals and hotels, modern air conditioning systems increasingly require this simultaneous supply of hot and chilled water, particularly in between seasons or in efficiently insulated building where the air conditioning system might be required to heat one area while cooling another.

The alternative way of achieving this result is to install both a chiller and boiler, but in terms of running costs, the EXP system can make energy savings of up to 35% with significantly lower installation and ongoing service and maintenance costs.

New Multi-Scroll Range of R410A Air Cooled Chillers

Y Power scroll series air cooled chillers are available in cooling capacities from 368kW to 523kW, and specifically developed to operate with refrigerant R410a and multi-scroll compressors.

Each chiller incorporates five or six compressors giving five or six capacity steps and ultra high efficiency levels at partial loads. The chillers feature specially designed and constructed stainless steel plate evaporators, which with electronic expansion valves minimise pressure drops to increase the efficiency of evaporation and pro rata energy consumption.

Factory fitted accessories, include water circulating pumps and buffer tanks. Y Power Chillers are also available in standard, silenced and soundproofed versions and as reversible heat pumps. The control system is pre arranged for easy connection with MODBUS RTU and LON BMS systems.

Adaptive Function Plus Chiller Control Technology

Patented and developed by Rhoss in partnership with the Physics and IT department of the University of Padova, Adaptive Function Plus is an innovative control software which has the capability to reduce the energy consumption of Water Chillers and Heat Pumps by up to 36% in the winter months and 18% in the summer.

Even at partial loads, the water set point value is maintained at an exceptional stability while increasing the efficiency of the compressors according to actual working conditions. In this way it is possible to achieve significant seasonal energy savings compared to water chillers and heat pumps of an equivalent capacity with traditional control logic.

The opportunity is created to obtain energy performances equal to or better than Class A (as defined by Eurovent), without the need for further modifications.
