Split & Multi-Split Systems
Ideal for small to medium sized properties of all types including
offices, shops, restaurants, bars or residential, split and multi-split
systems can operate up to 5 indoor units from a single outdoor cooling
only or heat pump unit for year round comfort. Operating with the safe,
stable and efficient refrigerant HFC R-410A and incorporating inverter
technology, these systems offer industry-leading performance and
efficiencies. Select from a comprehensive range of stylish compact and
extremely quiet indoor fan coil units, including the new round flow
cassette.
VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume Systems)
Daikin VRV heat pump and heat recovery systems provide the ultimate
in space saving, energy efficient climate control systems, from the
average size residence to the largest of buildings. VRV systems use
inverter controlled scroll compressors resulting in the industry’s
highest COPs (coefficient of performance) ratings.
The VRV range includes a water-cooled version (VRV-WII), which uses
water as its heat source and VRVIII. The third generation VRV offers
even more design flexibility through a number of technological
advancements including increased capacity, longer pipe length
capability, greater fan coil connectivity (up to 64) and enhanced energy
efficiency. The system features automatic refrigerant charging with
built-in leak detection and the refrigerant content has also been
further reduced.
In 2006 Daikin introduced a new version of the mini VRV (VRVIII-S),
bridging the gap between the multi-split and larger capacity VRV
systems. Up to 9 fan coil units can be connected to the mini VRV system.

Heat Pump Systems
Daikin split, multi-split and VRV systems can be available for
cooling only applications, however heat pump versions are highly
recommended, as these offer both efficient heating and cooling. Heat
pumps are now classified as LZC (low to zero carbon) technologies, as
such they can help in meeting the requirements of the latest Part L
building regulations whilst qualifying for Enhanced Capital Allowances
and reduced rate VAT.
Daikin Inverter Control
The frequency inverter control in Daikin systems reduces energy
consumption by almost one third compared to non-inverter types. The
inverter improves performance relative to power input, ensures a more
even room temperature and eliminates power surges and stop/start cycles.
Inverter technologies maximises operating efficiency so important in
these times of environmental consciousness and the need to reduce carbon
emissions.

Heat Reclaim Ventilation (HRV)
Efficient ventilation is a key element of the new Part F building
regulations and Daikin’s heat recovery ventilation modules can be
applied as stand alone units or incorporated within the air conditioning
system. Temperature and humidity are exchanged between the supply and
exhaust air, recovering potential energy losses and considerably
reducing the air conditioning loads. The HRV modules feature a high
efficiency VAM heat exchanger and are available in 4 models with airflow
rates from 350 to 2000 m3/h and with optional DX Coil and humidity
control.
Chilled Water Systems
Daikin’s recently extended range of air and water-cooled liquid
chillers (nom. Capacities 5kW to 1.9MW), now include inverter and/or
“stepless” compressor technology for improved capacity control and
therefore greater part load efficiency. Renowned for their high
reliability and low maintenance costs, Daikin’s screw compressors only
require service inspection at 40,000 hr intervals.
All Daikin chillers are offered with a 3 year warranty as standard.
Daikin’s Integrated Chiller Network (DICN) allows the simultaneous
operation of up to 4 chillers as if they were a single unit. This
results in precise and efficient capacity control and is useful for
back-up purposes, ensuring that only the necessary amount of cooling is
supplied and guaranteeing the optimum operation of the chiller plant.

Daikin Control Systems
A comprehensive range of advanced controls to complements Daikin air
conditioning systems.

The I-Manager is a computerised control system for Daikin’s VRV
systems, operating up to 1024 indoor units and allowing precise control,
simple settings and operating functions.
The Intelligent Touch Controller is a stand alone, plug and play system
operating up to 2 groups of 64 indoor units at the touch of the screen.
The Daikin DS-net intelligent monitoring control system can give the
facilities manager access and control to 50 sites.
The Carbon Trust & ECA (Enhanced Capital Allowance)
Managed by The Carbon Trust, the Energy Technology List includes
various technologies that meet pre-determined efficiency requirements.
Many Daikin VRV, split, multi-split heat pump systems and chillers
qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances. See www.eca.gov.uk/etl.
Free RIBA & CIBSE Approved CPD Seminars
Space Air is happy to conduct free RIBA and CIBSE approved CPD
seminars which provide information on the latest in air conditioning
technologies, environmental standards and regulations.
