When American Standard acquired Armitage Shanks and Armitage Venesta it created, with its existing brands, the UK's largest bathroom, washroom and shower group such as sanitary ware and bathroom fittings. The result is that specifiers, contractors and installers have the widest range of products in the UK, backed by the reassurance of working with European and worldwide leading manufacturers.

Product codes
Combining the existing Armitage Shanks and Ideal-Standard product ranges has meant that new codes have had to be applied to many products. Where necessary the earlier code is indicated in brackets after the new code. This will enable specifiers who are familiar with the earlier codes to use the new codes. The BlueBook index section contains indices for both earlier codes (Armitage Shanks products) and new codes for the complete range of Ideal-Standard and Armitage Shanks products.

Armitage Venesta

The group's washroom division, Armitage Venesta, makes cubicles, vanity units and fully pre-plumbed systems. Armitage Venesta was formed by the merger of Armitage Shanks Integrated Systems and Venesta Cubicles, companies with over 65 years experience of supplying washroom systems. In the forefront of designing and supplying Integrated Plumbing Systems, Armitage Venesta has developed IPS Evolve, a metal framed washroom system that is fast to deliver and fast to install. Armitage Venesta provides a complete design and specification service for commercial and hospital projects.

American Standard

American Standard is the world's largest producer of bathroom and kitchen fixtures and fittings as well as one of the world's largest producers of air conditioning and heating systems. American Standard was formed following the merger of the American Radiator Company and the Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company. Standard Sanitary pioneered many plumbing product improvements in the early part of the 20th century including mixer taps and one-piece WCs. American Standard and its 35 joint ventures operate 106 manufacturing facilities in 35 countries, employing 44, 000 people. Sales from the company's three business segments total $8 billion.
