Filtration and Tobacco Smoke Removal

Increasingly consumers are expressing their preference, by voting with their feet, to eat and drink in a smoke free environment.

The installation of air filtration and ventilation equipment leads to customers staying longer. In a recent survey 32% said they would stay at a pub longer if it had good ventilation to eliminate the tobacco smoke. Additionally customers tend to visit more regularly and are more likely to increase spending on food, leading to increased revenue. This means that any equipment installed to deal with tobacco smoke will typically pay for itself over a few months, if not weeks.

For staff clean air is also an important issue and can determine where people decide to work, since in addition to the risks of passive smoking, tobacco smoke also causes itchy eyes headaches and smelly clothes. More importantly current Health and Safety regulations dictate that an employer has a duty of care to his staff and must do whatever is practical to safeguard their health. This includes protecting them from environmental tobacco smoke.

Purified Air's Electronic Air Cleaners range comprises three models the PA80, PA120 and the PA200. All units are available with a choice of two filters and come in white or grey ensuring that they fit in with most décor. The PA80 can be either ceiling or wall-mounted whilst both the PA120 and PA200 are designed for ceiling mounting only, but can be recessed into suspended ceilings when required. The PA200 is a double version of the PA120.

Guaranteed to remove 98% of airborne impurities including tobacco smoke these air purifiers are on a '£ for £' basis the most efficient and cost effective air cleaners currently available. Ventilation

Purified Air is a specialist manufacturer of turnkey ventilation systems with each system developed specifically to the requirements of an application and designed to incorporate the appropriate combination of the following:

• Filtration - varying degrees
• A fresh air supply
• A re-circulated air supply
• Tempered or heated air
• Cooled air

Air Conditioning

A full range of air conditioning systems is available from Purified Air who is an approved installer for Fujitsu, Daikin, Mitsubishi, Trane and Toshiba. Options include:

Split Systems - where the units are installed inside the room with external units mounted on the roof or on an outside wall. These are the most popular systems for commercial premises and are available in various configurations covering ceiling mounted cassettes; high wall mounted, low wall mounted and under ceiling units

Packaged Systems - where the units are normally located outside on a roof and are ducted inside through grilles in the ceiling.

Window Systems - where self-contained units are installed half inside and half outside the room. Purified Air believes that any system installed should be absolutely right for the location and offers a free site survey anywhere in the UK to ensure the optimum scheme is specified. The installations themselves are always carried out by qualified engineers so that the units are sited and installed correctly.

Also available from Purified Air, either to purchase or hire, is a range of mobile air conditioning units including the Midea Monobloc 8000 air conditioner. This air-to-air unit combines quiet operation with high efficiency and is suitable for office, home or workplace. With a mobile air conditioner there are no installation costs since all that is required is a 13 amp socket. This Midea Monobloc unit is ideal for applications where the room size is approximately 18.6 square metres.

Odour Control

Whenever a restaurant or commercial kitchen opens it is subject to the environmental criterion that no smoke or odour should be noticed at the exhaust. The emissions from a kitchen extract are made up of two phases the particulate, or grease and smoke phase, and the gaseous, or odour phase.

Fragrancing

Scientific research conducted over the past twenty years in America, Europe and Japan has found that the controlled release of certain essential oils and aroma chemicals can influence a person's mental processes and buying decisions as well as having a significantly positive effect on the way they feel. Purified Air uses the unique patented Elemist system to provide corporate or dedicated fragrances for the retail and hospitality sectors.

The Elemist process enables Purified Air to develop high quality fragrances and dispense them in measured doses to produce a designed environment.

The Elemist system when fitted with the appropriate fragrance canister can be used for a number of different applications including:

• Product promotion in stores
• Corporate signature fragrancing
• Inspiring people to work harder, reducing stress, an all too common problem in the modern working environment, and making employees feel more energetic. According to research in the United States an environment scented with peppermint leads to workers making fewer mistakes.
• Odour neutralising in washrooms and changing rooms
