from stock. If a special is required our fast track shop allows us to
deliver in an industry leading 4-6 weeks. Our quality access products

Automatic
Smoke &Fire Vents
Automatic smoke and fire vents help fire-fighters to bring fires under
control by removing smoke, heat and gases from burning buildings. They are
especially suitable for large
expanses of unobstructed space, such as factories, warehouses, auditoria and
retail facilities.
Smoke Vents
Type REM automatic
smoke ventilators open a full 90° using 24V DC actuators to ensure rapid
dispersal of smoke and noxious fumes. Designed for positioning at the head
of stairways, in lift-shafts or on industrial roofs, they will act as
chimneys, clearing the building of heat, smoke and noxious gases, and
ensuring exits remain more visible. REMs can also provide easy access to the
roof and enable closure from inside the building, unlike conventional smoke
vents which, once operated, have to be closed from above. REM smoke vents
can be controlled by a dedicated battery-backed control panel, which
provides power in case of an emergency, and can also be integrated into the
heating and ventilation systems of an entire building.

Roof Hatch Options
Roof access hatches provide safe and convenient access to roof areas for
routine maintenance and inspection as well as for servicing of HVAC systems
and other roof-mounted
equipment. They are ideally suited to use in office buildings, flats,
factories, warehouses, retail stores, shopping complexes, hotels,
manufacturing plants, hospitals, schools,
auditoria and sports facilities, where roof access is a requirement. Bilco roof hatches may be specified to include special insulation materials,
special armor plate, snow and ice melting cables, special finishes, and panic
hardware. Roof hatches can also be designed for motor or winch operation.
Where desired, it is recommended that a larger hatch be specified to accommodate
space for the motor hardware.
Composition and manufacture
Bilco hatches have a galvanised
steel or aluminium construction, and are engineered for durability. For installation
in corrosive environments, doors are available with grade 316 stainless steel
hardware, including the latch and lifting mechanism assemblies, hold-open and
guide arms, and all brackets, hinges, pins and fasteners.

Floor
Access Doors
Pit and floor doors provide access to equipment stored underground
or below / between building floors. Products include drainage doors, non-drainage
doors, doors that receive flooring materials, doors for interior applications,
fire-rated doors, and special-application doors.
Operation
Pit
and floor doors are engineered to include the proper combination of compression-spring
operators or torsion rods to afford smooth, easy and controlled operation.
Other features include a positive hold-open arm that engages automatically when
the door-leaf reaches its open position, heavy-duty hinges and a stainless steel
slam-lock.
Dimensions
Bilco doors are available in many shapes and sizes. Specials can be produced to
suit particular sizes or applications.

Design Quality
All Bilco products are designed to provide many years
of trouble-free service. In addition, the Bilco Company has a highly skilled customer
service department and an international network of factory trained representatives
ready to provide whatever service or assistance you may require. Should a part
fail to function in normal use within a period of five years - or longer, as indicated
- from the date of purchase, a new part will be furnished at no charge. Electrical
motors, smoke detectors and other special equipment carry warranties of the manufacturers
of those products. Most incorporate innovative features for which numerous U.S.
and International patents have been issued.

In addition, Bilco’s engineering department can also custom design roof hatches
and fire vents for your unique application.
Floor access covers
 Bilco
floor access covers are designed to provide convenient, direct access to
underground areas and services, while blending in with the surface in which
they are laid. The covers incorporate metal pans, which accept a wide
variety of floor materials, allowing them to go virtually unnoticed in the
surrounding floor. Typical applications include airports, underground
railways, warehouses, hospitals, retail outlets and general commercial
building interiors.
Pan covers
Shallow-pan, standard-pan and deep-pan covers are supplied in pan depths
from 27 to 102mm. Available in lift-out and hinged designs, they are
suitable for all kinds of horizontal access applications.
Fire-rated pan covers
BV-F90 fire-rated covers are certified to resist fire for 90 minutes
following a live test by the Institute of Fire Protection Technology &
Safety Research (IBS).
Insulated pan covers
BV-Thermo insulated covers incorporate an insulation plate with thermal
properties as follows: resistance 3.2m2K/W; co-effiecient 0.3W/m2K.
Sealed duct covers
BVA sealed duct covers are suitable for continuous access to pipes and
cables. They are available in two- or three-part assemblies, which feature
demountable cross-beams that can be removed without tools. Systems can be
specifically designed for longer runs.
Operation
All covers have a tapered profile that makes them easy to remove and
operate, and secure when closed. They are also available with a hinged
design that features lift assistance for applications requiring regular
opening with minimum effort. Lift-off covers use a 'golden key', which is
inserted into one of the four corner keyways on the cover. The unique shaft
design breaks the seal between the cover and the surrounding frame. This,
coupled with the tapered profile of the cover itself, allows even a
'sticking' cover to be easily removed from the frame. The keyways also
provide lifting points. Each cover comes with two keys to enable it to be
moved easily to one side to provide access to services or underground space.
Composition and manufacture
Panels are available in 2mm-thick cold-formed, galvanised mild steel, in
grade 304 stainless steel, or in aluminium. Available in a range of depths,
covers are precision manufactured, and some feature a full EPDM seal that is
capable of withstanding up to a 1000mm head of water.
Finish and appearance
Cover pans are available in four depths - 27, 50, 66 and 102mm - to
accommodate brick, concrete, paviours, tiles, carpeting or other materials,
allowing panels to merge with factory and warehouse floors.
Technical data
Models are available with reinforcement for pedestrian, 125kN, 250kN and
400kN loading conditions are defined by EN 124 regulations.
