What is a Stretch Ceiling?
A Stretch Ceiling is a suspended ceiling system
consisting of two basic components – a perimeter track and
lightweight fabric membrane which stretches and clips into the
track. In addition to ceilings the system can be used for wall
coverings, light diffusers, floating panels, exhibitions and
creative shapes.
Stretch Ceilings allow the incorporation of all
types of light fixtures, grilles and fixing points by the use of a
proprietary background support.
Fabric
Our fabric material is a 0.2mm thick PVC based
fully recyclable Stretch Membrane. The material comes in a vast
array of Colours and Finishes including Matt, Satin, Lacquer,
Metallic, Perforated, and Translucent for lighting diffusers,
backlighting & projection. We have recently launched a range of Non
PVC membranes which are available in a range of colours, finishes
and light diffusers and a Mirror fabric known as Stretch Reflect.
The material can be printed or painted for
additional effects, is entirely waterproof, washable and impermeable
to vapour. The Material is maintenance free, hygienic, non toxic and
is fire rated to new euroclass standard B s1 d0 in accordance with
the EN 13501.1, equivalent in the UK to Class ‘O’.
The lightweight sheets are purpose made from roll
material to form any shape and size typically up to 50 square metres
in one piece. Each panel incorporates an ultrasonically welded
'Harpoon Edge' which clips into the track.
Track
Typically the Aluminium or PVC Semi-Concealed
track is the preferred choice for most architects and designers,
enabling curves, domes, vaults and many other shapes to be formed
with ease.
Installation
Track is, screwed (& plugged) to supplied
surfaces which should be rigid and true. Plasterboard should be
skimmed and have a background member within, to take 12-15kg per
linear metre tension. The jointing double track can be suspended
using timber or MF metal studwork.
Installation of the sheet requires raising of air
temperature to approx 100ºF/38ºC using propane gas heaters by us
albeit the site should be heated in winter. All adjustments and
apertures for lighting, ducts and pipework are made on site.
Silicone sealed tracks can achieve impermeable barrier, as required
for swimming pools and asbestos containment etc. Decorated walls
must have 1st coat applied and tiled walls must be grouted before
tracking. Wall coverings should be applied after tracking.
COMMERCIAL
The suspended Stretched Ceilings ceiling offers a
huge potential for commercial applications. With our superb range of
colours and ability to form shapes, Stretched Ceilings allows you to
create exceptional feature ceilings as well as conventional flat
designs. Suitable for all types of applications including Offices,
Supermarkets, Retail Outlets, Bars, Restaurants, Leisure Centres,
Cinemas, Galleries, Theatres, Museums, Churches, Shopping Centres
and many more.
Available in over 250 different colours &
finishes including translucent (for light diffusion, backlighting,
projection), lacquer (mirror like), satin, matt, perforated, suede
and metallic. The material can be printed or painted for additional
effects.
Purpose made monolithic panels in any shape and
size up to 60 sq meters gives you almost unlimited freedom in
design. Larger areas are simply accommodated using the
semi-concealed joining tracks. The system can be installed to within
18mm of existing soffits or ceilings making it possible to refurbish
without the removal of original ceilings and associated time & cost.
POOL & SPA CEILINGS
This is where Stretched Ceilings comes into its
own. Imagine a ceiling that can help stop condensation forming in
the roof void, a ceiling that can protect your roof structure from
chemical attack and a ceiling that requires no decoration or
maintenance. Stretched Ceilings does this and more by providing a
vapour barrier as tested to BS3177, which together with its unique
colours and finishes gives you a superb looking and protective
ceiling.
LIGHTING
Stretched Ceilings offers a fantastic opportunity
to create clean and cool or loud and colourful lighting effects and
features using our translucent material for light diffusion,
backlighting and front or rear projection. The material is only
0.2mm thick, very lightweight (170gms/m.sq.) and offers approx. 75%
light transmission. Any light fitting can be used behind the
Stretched Ceilings including fluorescent, cold cathode, colour
change, fibre optics, spots etc to create unique lighting designs,
features and bespoke luminaires. Single Panel widths from the roll
product can be either 1.6m or 2.0m wide, larger panels will have a
small welded ultrasonic seam and can be made up to 50 sq. meters.
The Stretched Ceilings material can be fixed using our aluminium
track to demountable frames for frequent access. Alternatively for
lower maintenance lighting the track can be permanently fixed to the
perimeter structure allowing the material to be unclipped, cleaned &
refitted by our operatives.
It is possible to paint, screen print or inkjet
print onto the Stretched Ceilings material for corporate logos,
images and individual creations.
The material is washable, hygienic, non toxic,
100% recyclable and is Class 'O' fire rated in the UK.
