Artificial Grass Surfaces
SSP SAFETY SURFACE SYSTEMS
include the use of SSP DROPTEC impact matting installed beneath robust sand-filled
artificial grass for attractive all weather children's play areas at home, at
school or in public playgrounds. Alternatively clients may wish to install this

Alternative Play Surfaces
SSP
Wetpour Safety Surfacing System is a two layer system installed in a liquid
state, and therefore seamless. The installation of this system is undertaken by
skilled installation teams and is weather dependent. It is not suitable for DIY
installation.
It can be laid on top of firm and even concrete, bitmac or asphalt.
A chase should be cut at the perimeter to assist bonding and should be gently
ramped at the edges to reduce trip points.
SSP Rubber Play Tiles
are manufactured from recycled shred truck/lorry tyres, bound together and pressure
moulded to 1m square tiles.
They provide a consistent factory guaranteed thickness
over the entire area, will not crumble or crack, are easy to repair, hard wearing,
do not need time for drying or setting, are relatively easy to install and are
vandal resistant.
Where a good level sub-base is already available the tiles
can be laid onto the surface with perimeter tiles having ramped and corner edges
to taper down the surface to the sub-base. Where excavation and a sub-base is
laid to create a flush mounted surface detailed guidance should be sought regarding
installation and speciality adhesives for the work.
Synthetic Pitch Cleaning
SSP offers a range of skilled cleaning and maintenance advice, regimes
and contracts to rejuvenate your synthetic grass surfaces. Brushing & Sweeping

Cleaning, Maintenance & Rejuvenation
Regardless of size, from single
tennis courts to hockey pitches, SSP offers a range of skilled cleaning and maintenance
regimes to rejuvenate your synthetic grass surfaces. The sand is decompacted and
lifted to a depth of 10mm. It is cleaned, and all foreign debris, broken-down
fibres and contaminants extracted. The carpet fibres are opened up and cleaned;
then the sand is evenly distributed back into the surface. On water based synthetic
surfaces all algae and calcium build up is removed. Joints are inspected and minor
repairs carried out. This takes up to 2 days for a Tennis Court up and up to 5
days for a Full Size Sports Pitch, and is surprisingly inexpensive.
Demands
placed on Artificial Surfaces have never been greater and while it is essential
that cleaning takes place during dry weather, a few days' lost play and revenue
during dry weather are soon recovered when play is resumed quickly during and
after bad weather.
To maintain the surface in good condition, SSP offers annual
or bi-annual cleaning programmes. During a two day annual clean the sand is lifted
to a depth of 5mm and all the processes described above are repeated. One day's
work every six months minimises lost play time and normally offers cost benefits.
