Welcome to Safesite - Think Safety. Think
Safesite.
Safesite is committed to providing solutions to
fall arrest situations that arise on a daily basis throughout
industry and commerce. Service, reliability and cost competitiveness
are the key principals to Safesite's continued success within the
marketplace. Safesite manufactures, distributes and installs systems
through its offices at Crawley and Runcorn and through its
authorised distributors who cover Scotland, Northern Ireland and
Eire.
Safesite is one of the few companies able to provide all the product
solutions which enable clients to specify a complete range of arrest
solutions from a single source. The company's recruitment within the
construction industry provides the client with a professionally
qualified team of Surveyors and Engineers who evaluate, organise,
install and certify the required system solution for any given
project.
Investment in facilities, systems, procedures and professionally
qualified staff means that Safesite is able to ensure continual
product innovation and quality assurance.
Fall
Arrest & Risk Assessment
Employers, employees, architects and anyone in
control of the construction or maintenance of a building are
responsible for providing the necessary safety equipment and
procedures to carry out the work in accordance with the latest HSE
legislation. This is detailed within the HSE Workplace (Health,
Safety & Welfare) Regulation 1992 and the Work at Height Regulations
2005 which came into effect on the 6th April 2005.
As part of these regulations duty holders must ensure that all work
at height is properly planned and organised. In order to do this,
Risk Assessments must be completed for every procedure that is to be
carried out.
Those preparing the risk assessment need to take into account
elements such as frequency of access and duration of the operation
in question. The Work at Height Regulations outline a simple
hierarchy for managing and selecting equipment for work at height.
Firstly duty holders should try and avoid work at height wherever
possible. If this is not possible then work equipment or other
measures must be put in place to prevent a fall. Finally, where a
fall cannot be eliminated, work equipment or other measures must be
used to minimise the distance and consequence of a fall should one
occur.
Safesite's professional Technical Services Department can help
clients to comply with legislation via an initial telephone
conversation followed by an on site evaluation and solution carried
out by one of our Surveyors. Report & Evaluation
Once the site visit has been completed the
Surveyor will report to our Engineers on the assessed risks and
possible solutions in merit according to suitability and economics.
The Engineers will then prepare a detailed solution for each
situation. This takes into account the structural design of the
building and the likely imposed loads applied by the proposed
solution and those using the System. In addition to these criteria,
wind speed calculations may also apply to the solution.
Pre-Contract Documentation
Due to the nature of works, Fall Arrest
Protection, Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Health & Safety
Policy, and program documentation must be completed in order to
detail exactly how Safesite's operatives will carry out the
installation in accordance with HSE requirements. The Building
Owner/Employer may also have additional requirements as part of
their Risk Assessment or procedures. These additional items will
form supplementary documentation that will need to be completed
before the installation commences, For example; roof permits, hot
works permit, evacuation, fire procedures and COSHH Requirements.
The Installation
The Contracts Department will organise the
complete installation including delivery, access, Safesite
operatives and any additional works, such as roofing/cladding
repairs, that may be required. This will require liaison with the
client in order to ensure that all parties concerned are aware of
every aspect of the contract's organisation.
Some installations may require routine inspection and certification
depending upon the environment and usage. Safesite will advise on
the service schedules and costing during the quotation stage of the
project. Certification & Training
Health & Safety legislation as well as European
Directives are continually monitored and implemented within the
design of Safesite's Products. This is independently accessed by
institutions such as the British Board of Agrement, British
Standards and National Engineering Laboratory testing. Safesite is
committed to service & quality and has been assessed by the National
Britannia Health & Safety Supplyline Registration Scheme.
The company is constructionline registered and has achieved BS EN
ISO 9001 : 2000 Quality Management Systems. Safesite is also a
registered provider of Continual Professional Development (CPD) for
both the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) & the
Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH).
These courses are designed for Architects and Surveyors and explains
the thought process leading to product specification, for example,
user participation, frequency of access, building height, planning
issues etc.
