Folding Doors

Aluminium / UPVC What is the Difference?

Many people do not realise that UPVC Bi-folds expand in the heat much more than Aluminium Bi-folds. For this very reason the max width for UPVC folding doors are generally speaking around 4 metres. However, our Aluminium Bi-folds comfortably go up to 6 metres or more. Aluminium frames are extremely durable and won’t require any adjustments over time. One of the advantages of aluminium is that it may be any RAL colour. Also generally Aluminium doors are slimmer than UPVC due to Aluminium’s greater strength like-for-like, therefore we can maximise the glass area of the doors.

Our maintenance-free aluminium frame will not rot, warp or need varnishing and are fully covered by a 10-Year manufacturer’s guarantee and our insurance backed 10 year guarantee on workmanship.

The unique free-glide running system uses near frictionless, maintenance-free needle roller bearings encased in tough nylon making all our doors a breeze to open or close. An equal sightline provides a regimented look.

Concealed Track (Standard Threshold) on our Aluminium Bi-folding Doors

Our Aluminium Bi-folds have a concealed track, which has many advantages including:

• Track cannot be removed - highly secure
• The doors have a clean, smooth appearance as there are not extra "bolt-ons"
• Standard threshold provides optimal weather performance
• Standard threshold with open-out doors gives it further security as doors rest against up stand when pushed from the outside
• We can also fit our folding doors with a low or even flush threshold
