SHM develop advanced data loggers which, in conjunction with advanced multifunction meters, operate as outstations for complete energy monitoring, power quality analysis, power management and remote tenant billing systems. We supply a full range of meters for all utilities including heat, water, gas, oil, diesel and electricity. These gather energy, consumption and instantaneous power use data in plants, processes and buildings.

The experience gained in our SCADA and Energy Monitoring Systems work, provides us with the in-depth knowledge to integrate meters from all major European meter manufacturers. Our data loggers and software, together with our in-depth knowledge of the major manufacturers’ hardware and software, ensure that we deliver the right system to provide complete client satisfaction in every situation.

Systems

We design, build, install and commission systems ranging from a single metering panel to complete power quality management of multi-storey buildings. We deliver systems for tenant billing for widely distributed estates of multi-tenanted properties and individual buildings as well as energy management in industrial plants and processes.

Data Loggers

We’re the UK manufacturer of a unique range of high-integrity data loggers. We log all inputs including analogue/digital/pulse/status as well as Modbus/M-Bus communication with associated meters. We’re also a Tridium integration partner, able to offer this open/multi protocol system with full networking capability.

Consultancy

We advise on metering, energy monitoring, and carbon reduction legislation and how it affects your business and buildings. We promote fiscal metering systems which comply fully with MID legal billing requirements. We can recommend energy saving equipment, heat management and heat recovery techniques to achieve high scoring Building Energy Certificates and deliver cost savings through dramatic energy improvements and CRC compliance.

Meters

We’re one of the largest European stock holders and distributors of metering products and supply electricity/heat/water/gas/oil and diesel meters. We’re unique in holding a full range of stock from all major meter manufacturers, which we both supply and technically support.

Billing Meters (MID & OFGEN)

We supply fully certified billing meters in line with the European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID). We were the first company to install MID- certified meters in the UK and are knowledge leaders in the field. We supply meters from ABB, Carlo Gavazzi, Elster, DMM, Iskra, Kamstrup, Lovato, Socomec and Schneider.

Hire & Survey

We hire out load profile instruments and conduct load surveys. Our fleet of instruments is suitable for energy survey, load analysis, harmonic study, transient investigation and recording. We also provide and present in-depth analysis reports based on the recorded electrical information.

Panels & Enclosures

We assemble in-house panels containing meters, data loggers and communication interfaces for our systems. Panels are built according to the precise requirements of the site, client and mounting location. The SHM Meter Management Units (MMU) offer a very popular range of fused enclosures which provides the contractor with a safe pre-fabricated solution to meter mounting in situ.

Bureau Service

We collect data and provide meter readings/reports direct to customers, so relieving our clients of the need to purchase and operate their own software. This service can be offered directly by SHM or via Stark.

Service Agreements

Our Engineering Service Agreements provide our clients with a guaranteed continual operation of their system. This is particularly important for power critical systems, and ensures uninterrupted revenue for tenant billing.
