Generators and Standby-Power
G & M Power has been designing, building, and installing electrical
power generation equipment for over 50 years. This level of experience
has resulted in design, manufacturing and servicing operations to the
high standards demanded of engineering practice and customers. G & M has
a dedicated team of engineers with a depth of electrical engineering
knowledge and an open-minded approach who support our main Marine and
Industrial areas of expertise. In the Industrial market G & M designs,
manufactures, installs and commissions, diesel powered generator sets
for all applications including standby, base load, and peak lopping
installations.
Our expertise and capabilities in Industrial Power Solutions was
enhanced by the acquisition of Countryman Power, which in early 2002
became successfully incorporated into G & M as a wholly owned
subsidiary.
Customer Focus
G & M place a high priority designing and building power generation
solutions to exacting standards.
- Working closely with our customers and consultants from the
initial quotation phase
- Interpreting and developing specifications in conjunction with
our clients to ensure the best and most cost effective solutions

installation
We have built good team-working procedures with our sub-contractors,
which, allied to our experienced engineering team and project
supervision, provides the basis for our clients confidence that
contracts will proceed and be completed smoothly and on time with no
hidden extras.
Flexibility & Capability
Not being tied to any specific manufacturer, we pride ourselves on
our ability to provide a cost effective solution incorporating the most
effective prime movers and alternator combinations. These are supported
by the appropriate control, monitoring, cooling and exhaust systems
selected to meet our exacting standards. Throughout the contract, close
contact is maintained through a dedicated contract manager to minimise
and resolve problems as speedily as possible, should they arise.
Our generator range extends from 50kVA to 2500kVA. Generators can be
provided in single or multiple units, which, with paralleling options
can be expanded to meet most client applications. Prime movers used
include well-known engine brands such as Caterpillar, Cummins, MAN, MTU,
Perkins, Scania and Volvo with alternators selected from such companies
as Newage, Marelli, Leroy Somer, and Mecc Alte.
Within our client list, we have many blue chip companies in the
telecommunications, construction, retail, water and banking industries,
as well as public sector services. Our clients are principally within
the United Kingdom but we do export directly and indirectly to Europe,
South America, Central Asia and the Far East, usually for highly
specialized bespoke equipment.
Recent G & M solutions, where main, peak lopping or back up emergency
power is of paramount importance, have included a variety of
Installations such as:
- Hospitals
- Airport
- Telecommunications Centres
- Emergency Service Facilities

Quality
Within our ISO 9001:2000 quality programme G & M constantly strive to
find innovative ways of solving customer power generation problems. We
have a programme of actions to ensure we continue to develop control
systems and packaged solutions, whilst seeking to improve basic design.
Our marine classifications cover most class societies and we incorporate
that expertise where suitable in our design and manufacturing processes
whilst the requirements of our inclusion in the Achilles list of
contractors for the UVDB contributes to our quality programmes.
Testing of all Stand-by Generators and Marine Generators
Extensive testing on our own resistive/reactive load-banks is carried
out before delivery to ensure the correct operation and functionality of
the equipment. This testing is carried out to our own requirements thus
ensuring that we exceed customer standards. In order to meet
requirements of our Military, Naval and Nuclear customers we have
experience of undertaking various shock, seismic, noise and vibration
testing.
