Intelligent Lighting control systems (KNX / DALI) is our specialism, but our systems also include window and blind control, field control of HVAC, and integrated headend solutions. KNX – Complete InteroperabilityKNX is a worldwide standard for intelligent building control and automation. The KNX protocol is an open standard which is totally interoperable between different manufacturers and products, meaning that only a single bus network is required for your intelligent building control. This worldwide open standard has been approved by the CENELEC (European Committee of Electrotechnical Standardisation) as the European Standard for building electronic systems as part of the EN50090 series, as well as being approved as a world standard (ISO/IEC 14543-3). KNX has been installed to control some of the UK’s most high-profile projects including Heathrow Terminal 5, The British Library, Harrods and many rail / underground stations. Complete interoperability as well as forward and backward compatibility is guaranteed on all approved KNX products, allowing for greater choice and flexibility when upgrading an existing system or creating a highly specified solution. Energy-Saving SolutionsIn business today it is becoming increasingly important to place environmental concerns at the centre of any building project. Andromeda’s control solutions can help achieve key legislation as well as satisfying energy-saving benchmarks such as BREEAM ratings and the Enhanced Capital Allowance Scheme. Lighting Control Systems: Andromeda’s lighting control solutions are based around the principle of constant light control with intelligent presence detectors (multi sensors). The system will dim lighting against natural daylight levels, maintaining the design level of luminance at the working plane. This strategy has achieved around 60% energy savings on a number of completed projects. Fully automated emergency lighting testing and monitoring is also a major feature of our system. Dynamic Façade: Our KNX control solution can be used for natural and passive ventilation schemes enabling night time cooling and daytime window control to naturally vent buildings reducing the internal temperatures rather than employing active cooling. Furthermore, automatic blinds are not only used to control the amount of sunlight/glare entering a room, but can also significantly contribute to the amount of solar gain in a building, and hence affect the cooling plant loads, room summertime temperatures and running costs. Our KNX solar weather station is able to accurately determine the sun’s brightness, position in the sky (based on the geographical coordinates, time of year and time of day) and decide on the correct height for the blinds so as to optimise natural light, reduce glare and minimise solar gain. Andromeda integrated control solutions also include zone heating, cooling, wireless control and headend interfacing, commercial lighting systems and lighting dimming systems.
