Lucy Switchgear MV Distribution Switchgear - Product Selection
MV Distribution Switchboard
For optimum profitability and productivity, Lucy Switchgear’s SABRE
range of extensible equipment can offer cost-effective solutions
providing custom built switchboards for a wide variety of commercial and
industrial applications including transformer substations, ring
distribution networks, HV connections to industrial and commercial
buildings.

Typical Switchboard Configuration

Vacuum Circuit Breaker Type VCE2 or VCE6
The Extensible Vacumm Circuit Breaker, Extensible Vacuum Circuit
Breaker, part of the SABRE range, combines the most advanced Vacuum and
SF6 technologies. All switching and circuit interruptions are carried
out by the vacuum bottles for optimum integrity and reliability.
Simple design, ergonomic layout with integral functional and cable test
interlocks to prevent incorrect operation, has resulted in the optimum
in operator safety.
All Circuit Breakers have also been designed with automation in mind,
which allows the fitting of actuators for automation and remote control.
- Vacuum switching: high mechanical and electrical endurance –
tested in excess of 2,000 operations, with vacuum bottles capable of
10,000 full load operations up to and including 630A
- Minimum maintenance
- Ease of operation: clear indicator position and simple mimic

- Indoor and Outdoor
Single Switch Type SSE
In addition to the Extensible Circuit Breaker, Lucy Switchgear has
introduced a Single Load Break Switch known as SSE, which can act as an
Incomer / Isolator as well as a bus-section unit type DSN if required.
Metering Units AMU2/4/6 - TC/BC/FS
The SABRE range has full compatibility to air insulated metering
units consisting of CT’s and VT’s. The BC option is designed for fitting
in a run of busbars of extensible switchgear with alternative facility
for cable connection IN and OUT (the FS option). The TC option is for
Tee-off Metering and is directly coupled to the switch or circuit
breaker.
Each unit comprises MV busbars with two current transformers and a
single three phase voltage transformer complete with HV links and LV
fuse protection. The ratio and class of transformers can be client
specified.
Busbar Coupling
All units can be directly coupled to form multiple panel switchboards
without the need for additional cabling or access to gas insulated
chambers. This can be achieved using a well-proven busbar jointing
system.

Package Substations
In combination with our extensive range of distribution feeder
pillars, Lucy Switchgear can offer you high quality indoor and outdoor
package substations with fully integrated automation systems:
- Extensible and non extensible SABRE up to 15.5kV
- Indoor and outdoor transformers up to 2500kVA
- Low Voltage feeder pillars up to 2400A
Protection
To meet all customers needs, all the equipment incorporates a range
of protection, control and monitoring devices.
All options provide transformer Overcurrent protection covering phase to
phase faults.
Earth fault protection covering phase to earth faults is also available
as required.
- TLF (time limit fuses): Simple direct acting system with a fixed
time/current characteristic
- Self Powered Relays: Direct acting system with adjustable
time/current characteristics
- Auxiliary Powered Relays: Separately supplied control system
with adjustable time/current characteristics
Application Guide
TLF protection is generally utilised on smaller distribution
transformers where the normal full load current is low and
discrimination with the LV circuit can be achieved by fuse
co-ordination.
Relay protection provides a range of time/current operational settings
that can be adjusted to suit the transformer circuit. The protection is
more precisely set and discrimination with the LV protection system is
readily achievable.
Self-powered relays are particularly useful for outdoor substation
equipment where no auxiliary power is available. A remote trip facility
can be provided.
Auxiliary powered relays provide operational security as they function
independently from the circuit they are monitoring. Remote trip and
fault trip/alarm facilities can be provided.
