MV Distribution - Switchgear Automation - Vacuum Circuit Breaker - Ring Main Units - Application Guide
For optimum profitability and productivity, Lucy Switchgear’s SABRE range of extensible equipment can offer cost-effective solutions providing custom built switchboards for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications including transformer substations, ring distribution networks, HV connections to industrial and commercial buildings.
Typical Switchboard Configuration
The Extensible Vacuum Circuit Breaker, part of the SABRE range, combines the most advanced Vacuum and SF6 technologies. All switching and circuit interruptions are carried out by vacuum interrupters for optimum integrity and reliability.
Simple design, ergonomic layout with integral functional and cable test interlocks to prevent incorrect operation, has resulted in the optimum in operator safety.
All Circuit Breakers have been designed with automation in mind, which allows the fitting of actuators for automation and remote control.
In addition to the Extensible Circuit Breaker, Lucy Switchgear has introduced a Single Load Break Switch known as SSE, which can act as an Incomer / Isolator as well as a bus-section unit type DSN if required.
The SABRE range has full compatibility with our air insulated metering units consisting of CTs and VTs. The BC option is designed for fitting in the busbar run of extensible switchgear with an alternative facility for cable connection IN and OUT (the FS option). The TC option is for the Tee-off Metering and is directly coupled to the switch or circuit breaker.
Units comprise of MV busbars with two current transformers, and the VT options available are: three phase voltage transformer without HV fusing but with removable links; three phase voltage transformer with HV fuse and removable links; three single phase voltage transformers with HV fusing. The ratio and class of transformers can be client specified.
All units can be directly coupled to form multiple panel switchboards without the need for additional cabling or access to gas insulated chambers. This can be achieved using a well-proven busbar jointing system.
To meet all customers needs, all the equipment incorporates a range of protection, control and monitoring devices.
All options provide transformer Overcurrent protection covering phase to phase faults and earth fault protection covering phase to earth faults is also available as required.
TLF protection is generally utilised on smaller distribution transformers where the normal full load current is low and discrimination with the LV circuit can be achieved by fuse co-ordination.
Relay protection provides a range of time/current operational settings that can be adjusted to suit the transformer circuit. The protection is more precisely set and discrimination with the LV protection system is readily achievable.
Self-powered relays are particularly useful for outdoor substation equipment where no auxiliary power is available. A remote trip facility can be provided.
Auxiliary powered relays provide operational security as they function independently from the circuit they are monitoring. Remote trip and fault trip/alarm facilities can be provided.
