A Lesson in Engineered Wood Flooring - Architectural

This presentation follows the manufacturing process of hardwood flooring from the harvesting and drying of the raw timber, through the grading and hardness of different species, to the finished product. In addition, the presentation examines the effects of UV light and natural minerals, alongside surface treatments that can change the colour of the wood. The benefits of lacquer protection are also explained in detail.

Containing an extensive range of images, the presentation clarifies the different types of solid and engineered wood flooring constructions and formats. Key considerations relating to installation and maintenance are not forgotten. Protecting the environment is a major concern to everyone, so this CPD presentation discusses the main issues and explains the meaning of FSC accreditation. Significant factors that should be considered when specifying wood, such as suitability of species and finish for an area, are also covered.
