Telling Architectural Terracotta cladding rainscreen cladding
Telling Architectural offer innovation in the design and management
of rainscreen cladding that include specialist forms of construction in
lightweight steel walling, pre-fabrication, natural stone, terracotta,
ceramic, porcelain and hydraulic lime render on recycled glass
insulation.
Rainscreen Façades - Terracotta Rainscreen Cladding
Telling Architectural distribute a range of systems in the UK,
Ireland and the USA. We provide an unequalled level of technical sales
and advisory services including structural calculations, conceptual and
project design and budget costs in the UK. Our activities have been
extended from a primary focus upon Argeton terracotta to include
ceramic, porcelain and natural stone rainscreens selected from proven
manufacturers throughout Europe.
The company can participate in the installation of our systems by
providing an experienced contract support manager and project
supervision where requested.
Terracotta Rainscreens are manufactured under the ‘Argeton’ process
created by the German Clay Tile Manufacturers Association. BBA approval
has recently been secured. Porcelain panels from Imola and Ariostea
enable larger formats to be created and ceramic tiles by Mayor offer
fired patterns and colours to meet increasing demands for corporate
livery in façades. Lightweight concrete panels faced with natural stone
or coloured glass by Caparol/Alsecco offer an exiting new dimension to
our range.
The systems utilise the proven principle of the ventilated cavity,
creating a condensation free and thermally efficient cladding whose
components are suited to modern architecture. The natural beauty and
symmetry of the tile/panel formats lies in the precise and clean lines
achieved without overlapping. We provide fire stopping measures where
regulations so require and the expanded use of 66% recycled cellular
glass as the insulation medium is being promoted.
The Telling Architectural façades interface readily with alternative
forms of curtain walling, glazing and insulated render systems to
provide flexibility of design in the creation of an individual style.
Our associate company, Telling Lime has developed a rendered rainscreen
system that uses Foamglas® (66% recycled cellular glass) as the base for
its render system of natural hydraulic lime.
Composition:- The rainscreens are constructed to comply with DIN 18516
Part 1 relating to ventilated non load bearing structural cladding
systems. Natural clay and ceramic tiles are available in grids of up to
1500mm in length and 400mm in height. Porcelain panels are available in
sizes up to 1200mm x 600mm in height. Stone and glass panels can be
sized as desired but can be created in storey height panels up to 1.20
metres in width. The weights of the systems will be between 40-60 kgs/m²
with the aluminium substructures designed in accordance with the British
Standards applicable to rainscreen façades. All systems have been tested
at the Taywood Laboratories in the UK for compliance with CWCT
Standards, a pre-requisite for NHBC approval.
Appearance:- Smooth faced natural clay tiles in thirteen colours,
patterned or glazed ceramics to any RAL colour, polished riven or matt
porcelain and twenty natural stone panels are offered from our extensive
range. External corners and linings to windows can be formed in powder
coated aluminium, mitred or created as prefabricated stone panels.
Ancillary trims can be selected either to contrast or blend with the
colour of the façade selected.
Our façade can be installed in both refurbishment and new construction.
Structural deviations are readily overcome by the aluminium support
system recommended. Traditional backgrounds of blockwork or concrete are
suitable with thermal bridging between the cleat and the structure
prevented by the use of a thermal separator. Lightweight steel and
timber frame construction can be designed to accommodate the system.
Design & Planning:- Standard sections and details are available to
assist the designer in the selection of appropriate interface details.
Utilising CAD an elevation can be laid out to grid in the preferred tile
module. Structural calculations for the fixing of the support structure,
wind speeds and any loadings that may be applicable will be undertaken
by the in-house design and engineering department of Telling
Architectural. These calculations are project specific, particularly in
refurbishment where the age and condition of the fabric will require
testing and analysis to establish its structural integrity.
Taylor Maxwell Partnership
In August 2004 a partnership was formed with the cladding systems
division of Taylor Maxwell. Their operation from fourteen regional
offices provides excellent support and technical services for the
specifier that is closely linked to our in house design department. Our
collaboration is being continually expanded in to other innovative
cladding forms where our unique service will reduce the load in design
responsibility upon the consultant/contractor in interfacing and
programming. The services offered in conjunction with Taylor Maxwell
include but are not restricted to:
- Electronic CAD Downloads in DXF & DWG Formats
- Specification Downloads
- Design & CONDAM Evaluation
- Management & Design Coordination
- Planning & Budgetary Advice
- Maintenance Manuals
- Installation Training & Site Supervision
- Approved List of Contractors (Job Specific)
