Building Louvres & External Ventilation Systems
Colman have over 30 years’ research and
development experience in designing, manufacturing and installing
weather louvres. Our range of louvres have been developed with high
performance and aesthetic appeal in mind, offering a standard range
in single, double or triple bank blade profiles whilst having the
engineering and technical capability to supply louvres specifically
manufactured as one-off custom built “specials”. To meet the most
demanding architectural requirements, irregular and complex shapes,
mitred corners, multi-bank assemblies, engineered single or double
doorsets can be designed and manufactured to suit each particular
application. Special assemblies to suit sloping roof applications
have long been a feature of the Colman portfolio. Penthouse louvres
can transform a roof top terminal with access doors easily
integrated into the assembly. Where continuous appearance louvres
are desired our unique design features provide an accurate location
of each panel to ensure a clear unbroken blade line which can easily
integrate into cladding and glazing systems as well as more
traditional brickwork and cast openings.
Colman louvres provide excellent weatherproof
features whilst allowing optimum free air flow. The blade profiles
incorporate anti-cascade traps and drainage channels which provide
enhanced weather protection in the most severe conditions.
Colman Factory Built Louvre System
A standard range of louvres are available in
50mm, 60mm, 70mm & 100mm blade pitches, and are designed for
sheltered, moderate and severe exposure conditions with both flanged
and flangeless frame styles together with optional extras such as
bird guards, insect screens and blanking plates.
Colman Clip-in Louvre System
To meet the need of where the time to carry out
the installation of louvres is short and where access may be a
problem Colman have developed a site assembled clip-in system. The
system can incorporate single and double leaf doors with a wide
range of optional accessories. Blade profiles are available in 50mm,
75mm and 100mm pitches. The blades are mounted on rear mullions by
means of factory fitted aluminium clips to ensure accurate alignment
of each blade profile. A free area of 60% is achievable with the
100mm system.
All external louvres are manufactured at Colman’s
modern 100,000 square feet production facility in Stoke-on-Trent
which is BS EN ISO 9001 accredited.
Louvre Finishes
A wide range of finishes are available, Mill
Finish aluminium, Architectural Grade Polyester Powder Coating to BS
4800 and RAL colours, Syntha Pulvin Plus, PVF2. Anodised finishes
are also available.
Specification
Colman external louvres are manufactured from
extruded aluminium sections to BS EN 12020-1:2001 with hot dipped
galvanised mild steel bird guard fitted as standard. Optional extras
including nylon re-inforced fibreglass insect proof screen, blanking
plates insulated or uninsulated are available in both galvanised
mild steel and aluminium – either self-finish or polyester powder
coated to match the external louvres.

UK, and in addition an office which is dedicated solely to External
Louvre products.

The Colman brand is synonymous with high quality
air distribution and offers the best in grilles and diffusers
including our heavy duty floor grilles for medium duty office
applications and extra heavy duty floor grilles used in computer
rooms, etc. In addition to our wide range of products, Colman offers
a design facility to produce customised designs to suit every
application without compromising performance or aesthetic
appearance.
