C & B Systems
Mediserve Hospital Product
C & B Systems manufacture and install pre-plumbed
Mediserve sanitary assemblies and ensure that the design meets
and/or exceeds current legislation and guidance notes for Hospitals.
Mediserve sanitary assemblies are installed in many UK hospitals
both large and small some of which are illustrated opposite.
Why C & B systems?
C & B are contracted for many reasons, price
although a factor is not always the deciding influence.
Ensuring the assemblies minimise the risk while
maximising the benefit to our clients and trusts while fulfilling
the need for the safe delivery of water at the correct temperature
without contamination is a priority for C & B Systems. Understanding
hospital trust requirements and taking in to account all design
features from the water source, its quality, to the type of pipe
work and pressure used to deliver the water enables C & B Systems to
provide the high level of care for both use of patients and hospital
staff. Consideration is also given to the ease of on the going
maintenance.
New Products & Materials
C & B Systems are continually striving to improve
the Mediserve systems and the materials used within the assemblies.
This is often hampered by the current guide lines. The acceptance of
new ideas is some times difficult to implement, as often the comfort
zone of previous use within hospitals is the dominant influence.
Working with key contractors, trusts and key components suppliers on
the assemblies has enabled C&B Systems to bring innovations and
special features to this sector.
C & B Systems continue to improve the Mediserve
system and are ready to discuss a clients requirements and put
forward solutions for any sanitary assembly. Consideration is given
to the many strange requirements that govern a successful project.
This could range from the ADL rooms, mortuary, endoscope, birthing
pool, ritual wash or the basic ensuite/ward arrangement.
Specifics
Aspects that C & B Systems consider while
developing the ‘Pre plumbed Mediserve systems’.
Material choices for the products.
Anti bacterial products - Are they a good
idea or not? What form of antibacterial material? Do they kill the
bugs or just move them to the side in greater density? Can all
pieces in the room contain the defence or just some? What is the
effect on skin? What about the good bugs? Will it help create the
superbug? Maybe having easy clean equipment and actually cleaning it
is the answer.
Pipework – Copper, Plastic or Stainless?
Traceheating, insulation or neither? - Consideration has to be given
to the water and its source.
Is it hard or soft, brown-field, green-field,
grey or borehole?
The above have an effect on the water and the
water can affect the pipe. What is your water and how will it affect
the equipment?
Taps – Electronic or Manual, cool touch or
scald - Bugs breed differently in both types of product. Are you
sure you have the correctly researched tap? Is the tap co-ordinated
with the basin, sink or trough and will the water funnel or splash?
Can you actually get your elbows behind the lever, or does the lever
go back to the panel? Should the TMV3 valve be integrated or
external?
Pottery Products - Pottery glaze. How much
glaze has been applied and at what temperature was it cured? Is the
surface flat or full or pitholes? Does the water run smoothly away?
Stainless Products - What grade is being
used and what is the finish? Does it resemble the Himalayas or a
cross section of a wavy sea or has the surface been ground flat?
What is the surface like at the bends? How many homes for bugs can
be made?
Cisterns - Should there be tanked water
within hospitals? Are the Europeans and Americans wrong to prefer
the direct feed systems? Back flow contaminations and water fluids
category 5 could be dealt with through the air gap between the valve
and the WC, or use grey water.
Weights etc - Will the total assembly take
the prescribed downward loads and how do we integrate with grab
rails and group 2 equipment?
There are other materials not within the current
system that may bring improvement within the hospital. Can C & B
Systems bring them into this closed arena?
