Britannia Kitchen Ventilation Kitchen ventilated ceilings
Britannia specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of
kitchen ventilation canopies and ventilated ceilings. The company has an
excellent pedigree and prides itself on its quality and level of
service. Manufacturing in its own British workshops the company provides
a refreshing approach to kitchen ventilation. Nothing is too much
trouble. Put them to the test!
All canopies are custom manufactured from folded and welded stainless
steel. Britannia do not use modular units, believing that each kitchen
is unique and each ventilation solution to be tailored to suit
individual needs and site constraints.
The range of products offered by Britannia covers all types of
ventilation systems as detailed below and includes grease filtration
systems, recessed fluorescent light fittings, Service distribution
units, splashback wall cladding, fire suppression systems and make up
air systems.
Canopies and ceilings are manufactured from type 304 satin polished
stainless steel. All welding is of high penetration, reground and
polished to match the original finish. Joints in the canopies are formed
by means of internal standing seam joint with stainless steel bolts,
which are then covered with a full height cover strip and sealed to the
canopy valance with food grade sealant. All construction complies with
DW171. Ultrastream UV Filtration System
Britannia also offers the Ultrastream range of canopies, which use UV
Filtration to provide secondary grease destruction and odour removal.
Which keeps extract ducts clean, and allows for cleaner discharge air.
First stage grease removal is achieved using the Superstream high
efficiency baffle filter panel, which also provides a fire barrier
between the kitchen and ductwork.
Grease and odour destruction is achieved by passing the extract air
through the UV lamp assembly located within the canopy. Intense UV light
energy breaks down and destroys residual grease and odours by a
combination of ozonolysis and photolysis. Supply Air Canopies
Make up air can be supplied to the kitchen through the canopy.
Insulated supply air plenums will introduce low velocity make up air to
balance the system, avoiding the need for expensive ductwork and supply
grilles in the ceiling. Peripheral Extract Canopies
The need to save energy is an important consideration when designing
the services for a commercial kitchen. Britannia’s peripheral extract
system allows you to save up to 30% on your extract volumes, which
allows great savings on plant and running costs and also allows smaller
ductwork sections to be used, which can be important in restricted roof
spaces. Peripheral extract also positions the grease filters immediately
above the operatives making filter maintenance easier without having to
reach over hot cooking equipment – an important factor when considering
CDM regulations. Britannia Kitchen Ventilated Ceilings Systems
Britannia’s ceiling system uses the void above the ceiling as a
pressurised supply air plenum, this ensures that only clean air is
passed through the void, keeping structures and services in the void
uncontaminated. Extract air is controlled by a dedicated extract
chamber, which forms a positive fire barrier with integral grease
drainage system. Cassette type ceiling systems often use the ceiling
void as an extract plenum, which results in a small proportion of the
carry over grease being spread over the ceiling void. This could cause a
health hazard or fire hazard in the void. The Britannia ceiling system
was developed specifically to address this issue.
