Hollowcore Precast Concrete Flooring from Tarmac
There are four types of Hollowcore unit: the M
Series, Spiroll, Prensoland and a solid plank version of the M Series,
which gives further flexibility, especially in specialist applications.
Spiroll units are extruded, while M Series units are slipformed.
Hollowcore is quick to install. It also has a greater
span and loading capability than in situ and can be used with masonry,
steel, precast and in situ forms of construction. Importantly, it can
easily incorporate disproportionate collapse details. It is
sound-insulating, high load bearing, fire-resistant and allows the easy
accommodation of services. Some units come with an extra-high quality
finish suitable for painting.
Lime Mortars
Reasons for using lime:
Durability - Lime-based mortar creates a better bond
between bricks and blocks, leading to more durable, longer-lasting
buildings.
Filling the Void - Lime provides the optimum void
fill of the sand present in the mix. This increases the mortar surface
area and therefore strengthens the bond.
Water Retention - By resisting water loss when placed
between bricks and blocks, lime-based mortar ensures precise contact
between brickwork and mortar, and also ensures complete hydration of the
cement.
Heal & Seal - By using lime mortar the movement of
buildings during and after construction is easily absorbed. Cracking of
lime-based mortars is minimal and any that does occur tends to be
micro-cracking rather than the major cracking associated with more
brittle sand:cement mortars. However, if micro-cracking does occur,
lime-based mortar can heal the cracks and seal the surface, thus wholly
maintaining the integrity of the building. This process is known as
‘autogenous healing’.
Easy on the Eye - Some building components contain
soluble salts that can reach the external surface, leaving unsightly
deposits. Lime-based mortars reduce the likelihood of this efflorescence
thanks to the reduced amount of water in the structure.
Accreditation - All of our mortars are manufactured
in compliance with BS EN ISO 9001:2000.
Improved Workability - Lime-based mortars are
favoured by builders thanks to their working properties: the fatty,
buttery texture is rewarding to work with and makes the mortar easy to
lay with minimum wastage and maximum strength.
Greater Productivity - Ease of use and reduction in
wastage reduces costs in both materials and labour.
Economy - The quality of the finished work is of such
a high standard that lime-based mortars need less maintenance or repair
work and are therefore the most economical in the long term.
Weather Resistance - Better bedding of bricks and
blocks, correct filling of perp-end joints and maximum void fill,
inherent crack control and self-repair makes lime-based mortar resistant
to rain penetration, wind, freezing, thawing, wetting and drying.
Coloured Mortars
Tarmac’s limebond coloured mortar can make an
enormous permanent difference to a building for a very small additional
cost. With many different coloured bricks available, Tarmac is able to
supply over 100 different shades of mortar to ensure the most pleasing
match and to allow the architect and builder unrestricted creativity
when it comes to making their building that bit different.
Dry Silo Mortars
Tarmac have invested heavily in new dry silo
technology because we believe it forms a crucial part of the service we
can offer to you:
The Mix Never Changes - Every time you press the
button for more lime-based mortar, you know it will be the same quality
as last time. Every consignment is dry-mixed in a state-of-the-art
factory to the correct specification, resulting in wholly consistent
strength and workability. So, if you are using coloured mortar you can
be sure of the same colour, batch after batch.
Weather Delays are Drastically Reduced - When it
starts to rain, simply wash out and turn the silo off. When it stops,
turn it back on again – no waiting around. Simply mix some more mortar
for immediate use. Also, you can easily adjust the water content of the
batch to compensate for wet bricks and blocks.
Increases Efficiency, Reduces Waste - You only
release the amount of mortar you need from the silo so waste is minimal:
as well as being environmentally friendly, you are always in control.
The silo is also immune to accidental contamination and opportunistic
mortar theft.
Better Site Conditions - The huge capacity means
fewer deliveries, fewer traffic movements and less chance of running
out. Also, once in place the silo doesn’t move (unless you need it to)
until the job is complete. We will consult with you to decide how many
silos are required to ensure you have uninterrupted service.
Additionally the silo mixer is dramatically quieter than traditional
site mixers – a major plus on modern occupied sites.
Reduced Costs - Greater efficiency and less waste
mean lower costs and more chance of completing jobs on time, or even
early. Silos also require fewer labourers than conventional on-site
mixing, leading to a more efficient use of your workforce.
Topcrete Dense Aggregate Blocks
The aircrete range comprises two well-known product
brands, Durox and Toplite. Aircrete is a modern construction material,
demonstrating exceptional thermal insulation and low unit weight. Tarmac
also provides an extensive range of Hemelite and Topcrete lightweight
and dense aggregate blocks, which are extremely durable and have
excellent loadbearing and sound insulation properties.
All of our blocks are manufactured under a Quality
System complying with BS EN ISO 9001. Materials going into the blocks
come from trusted Tarmac sources. The blocks conform to BS EN 771-3 and
4 and many of our products have the prestigious endorsement of The
British Board of Agrément (BBA).
Why use Tarmac Topblock Products?
