Schueco ALB - Solar Shading

Schueco ALB, a range of large louvre solar shading systems is now available from Schueco. It is an integrated extension of Schueco’s curtain walling system – although it may be used on any type of building façade.

Schueco ALB is available with a choice of aluminium or glass louvre blades in a variety of shapes, widths and lengths.

The Schueco ALB system offers glass louvres with either flat glass or curved laminated glass. One advantage of using glass is that it lends new interest to the external façade through becoming reflective, transparent or translucent depending upon the strength and direction of the sun.

The louvre blades in a Schueco ALB system can be either fixed (Passive) or movable (Active). Linked to an integrated building management programme, Schueco ALB Active can contribute significantly to the energy efficiency of a building.

The louvre blades can be mounted horizontally, vertically or even diagonally depending upon the orientation of a building and prevailing weather conditions. It can also be used as a kind of veranda with the blades mounted on cantilevered outriggers projecting at right angles from the façade.

One particularly interesting design development is that thanks to innovative Schueco technology, it is possible for the blades to be curved in the lateral plane, allowing them to follow the perimeter of curved façades. This is a design first and offers architects significant extra freedom for creative expression.
