Building the UK’s Greener Future

Radical change to how we produce and consume energy is required; and not just because our national fossil-fuel supplies are dwindling, along with our energy independence. Other key drivers, from climate change and fuel poverty, to Government legislation and increasing consumer pressure, are at work too.

The good news is that many of the solutions are affordable, scalable and available now.

City Multi VRF

The market-leading City Multi range not only has high seasonal efficiencies, it can also allow operators to optimise control of their system based on either heating demand or energy efficiency with the new High Performance Heating and COP Priority modes.

Seasonal performance looks at a more realistic system operation over a heating (SCOP) and cooling (SEER) season and can be used to calculate annual CO2 emissions and system run cost figures. The better the seasonal performance, the larger reduction in CO2 emissions the system can offer.

High performance heating mode runs the system with the priority of maintaining higher heating capacity at lower ambient temperatures, which is ideal for the UK climate. If the system is required to work as efficiently as possible, then COP priority mode can be selected. In addition to this, the range offers 8 additional sizes from the previous range and a new larger frame XL module for improved efficiency.

World’s First Aluminium VRF System

Mitsubishi Electric launched the world's first VRF system to incorporate a unique, flat tube aluminium micro-channel heat exchanger to provide even greater heat transfer efficiency. The City Multi YLM can deliver up to 27% annual energy savings, with controllable off-coil temperatures, continuous heating during defrost and reduced weight, size and refrigerant volume.

Less Refrigerant - BS EN 378

The Hybrid VRF range combines the best elements of chiller systems and VRF technology to offer even more choice. Using water to transfer heating or cooling within the building, Hybrid VRF delivers chiller levels of comfort with VRF levels of efficiency and flexibility. The system utilises a unique Hybrid branch controller box to provide simultaneous heating and cooling in a simplified, two-pipe design. Hybrid VRF operates without using refrigerant in occupied spaces, removing the need for leak detection equipment and allowing more properties to take advantage of phased installation through the system's modular design.

A Modern Update to Chillers

With increasing pressure on energy efficiency and running costs, Mitsubishi Electric’s new e-series modular chiller range provides a low-carbon, cost effective option. Comprising Cooling Only, Heat Pump and Heating Only models, the range combines high efficiency and reduced plant space with a unique modular approach. Each 90kW module can be positioned in a row of up to six connected units using the same internal header to provide a system capacity of 540kW. For larger systems, it is possible to have the units facing each other with a gap of only 900mm service space.

With the addition of the Climaveneta range to the Mitsubishi Electric portfolio, the company is able to offer a comprehensive line-up of customisable packages to aid design, specification, installation and on-going operation.

Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation

Lossnay’s simultaneous air exhaust to air supply heat transfer element provides effective ventilation with total heat recovery (sensible and latent), providing a comfortable air temperature and environment within the room.

The energy saved by using Lossnay contributes towards lowering the running costs of air conditioning and minimising the size of air conditioning systems needed.

Both residential and commercial Lossnay systems are available and 2017 will see Mitsubishi Electric launch a new range of highly efficient packaged air handling units for optimised, multi-zone climate control, combined with simpler installation and greater control, meaning that there is an energy efficient ventilation solution for any type of building application.

Advanced Controls & Internet Access

Mitsubishi Electric’s controls package is one of the strongest controls product ranges on the market and includes the widest range of BEMS interfaces in the industry, including BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks and Trend for both VRF and split systems.

The company has also developed sector-specific controls solutions with the Melcotel Hotel Interface. Melcotel is a unique product which can control up to 250 hotel rooms, both with or without the integration of a key card system.

The controller offers functionality such as night setback, temperature adjustment and window contact control, all of which provide a higher level of control, therefore more energy saving and a reduction in running costs.

The AE200 centralised controller offers a large 9 inch touch screen display with easy control of up to 50 indoor units. The controller offers features such as annual and weekly schedules, night setback, optimised start and refrigerant status function to name a few.
