Besam Automatic Doors - Product Selector & Safety Aspects
Sliding Doors - Complete Entrance Packages
Besam’s automatic sliding doors are supplied as a complete package
and are ideal for environments with high traffic flows, use with
customer trolleys, and as fully-glazed solutions in environments where
aesthetics are a priority.
Curved Sliding Doors
The curved sliding door system with its discreet design is easily
adapted to all environments where the architecture imposes high demands.
Curved sliding door systems are available in various models and for most
applications.

Revolving
Doors
This is the best solution for eliminating draughty entrances because
revolving doors effectively separate the indoor and outdoor climate.
Choose between 2-, 3-, or 4- winged systems.
Swing
Doors
For both inner- and outer-doors. The system is compact and adapts
well to different environments. It can be provided with a discreet
in-head arm system that conceals the whole of the top frame. Can be used
in the renovation of existing doors. Balanced doors - The door system is
integrated into the door leaf, making this a perfect solution for narrow
passages or in corridors. It combines the benefits of swing and sliding
door systems.
Besam
Service
By choosing Besam Service you are investing in reliable, trouble-free
operation for your automatic door systems and ensuring they remain safe
throughout their operating life. You will also be meeting the
recommendations of BS7036.
Safety
Not just the automatic door equipment but the ENTIRE entrance system
should meet the British Standard BS 7036 1996.
This is the Code of Practice for Safety at Powered Doors for Pedestrian
Use.
Besam strongly recommends that all installations comply with BS 7036.
Complete editions of the standard can be obtained from the British
Standards Institute.
Sliding Doors
Besam can offer electronic safety devices to reduce the hazard of
impact (in some instances physical protection, i.e. Screens may be
required) should someone be occupying the area into which the door
slides.
Trapping hazards are best avoided by being designed out of the entrance
or having a physical barrier installed. (Barriers and safety side
screens are not suitable for use with sliding telescopic door systems).
Where there is a requirement for increased levels of threshold safety on
sliding doors, Besam can offer radar activation combined with threshold
safety detection. These options should be considered where the risk
assessment identifies high-risk user groups (such as small children, the
elderly or infirm).
Swing Doors
To avoid that a pedestrian, standing in the swept area, or arc of the
door, to be struck by the moving leaf, the radar or impulse device must
be positioned so that the door opens before the pedestrian reaches its
opening path.
The risk of impact can be further demolished by providing safety sensors
to both sides of each leaf to detect a presence within the swing arc.
Besam is also able to supply finger trap protection for new and existing
doors to prevent the hazard in the pivot or hinge area.
Revolving Doors
Besam revolving doors all incorporate safety equipment to comply with
the BS 7036.
The specifier or user need not to be concerned with design aspects
related to safety. The only obligation is to maintain the doors in a
safe state.
