Permeable grass reinforcement solutions
Boddingtons Ltd manufacture a range of permeable
surface solutions for grass and gravel stabilisation, including
cellular paving grids and reinforcement meshes that can be used in
Source Control applications as part of Sustainable Urban Drainage
System (SUDS). Boddingtons’ solutions provide reinforcement of
grassed surfaces or the stabilisation of gravelled areas where they
are trafficked by vehicles and pedestrians and where continued
infiltration of surface water is also required.
BodPave® cellular paving grids can provide either a natural grass or
retained gravel surface combined with high load-bearing performance.
The grass paving grids are suitable for Emergency vehicle & HGV
access routes, car parks, driveways, pedestrian or disabled access
routes and other trafficked areas. Manufactured from 100% recycled
polyethylene, BodPave® grids are 500mm square by 40mm deep and their
distinctive honeycomb structure allows unrestricted root growth with
an attractive natural appearance. Having over 92% open structure,
BodPave® offers increased levels of rainwater infiltration whilst
retaining structural integrity, therefore making it a perfect
surfacing solution within a Sustainable Urban Drainage System (SUDS)
and in compliance with government legislation.
GrassProtecta™ is a green, heavy duty grass reinforcement
polyethylene mesh which is installed directly onto existing grassed
surfaces prone to wear, rutting and smearing and is a cost effective
solution for car parking applications and pedestrian or disabled (DDA)
access routes on grass. By allowing plants to grow through its
apertures, GrassProtecta™ allows the sward to intertwine with the
mesh filaments creating a strong, discreetly reinforced surface
capable of withstanding vehicle loads, limiting damage and reducing
soil compaction. Supplied on 2m x 20m & 1m x 10m rolls in two
thicknesses (11mm & 14mm) as determined by the application,
installation is simple; after cutting the grass short, the mesh is
unrolled and pinned to the surface using metal U-Pins or plastic
pegs. GrassProtecta™ can also be installed onto newly landscaped
areas. The surface can be used after the grass has grown through the
mesh apertures and a strong interlock has been achieved – normally
after a few weeks during the growing season.
TurfProtecta™ is a black or green, light weight polyethylene mesh
installed directly onto existing grassed surfaces in a similar way
to GrassProtecta™ where occasional light pedestrian or vehicular use
is required for car parking or access. Supplied on 2m x 30m rolls in
two grades, TurfProtecta offers an economical reinforcement solution
for light applications.
BodPave®, GrassProtecta™ & TurfProtecta™ are perfect alternatives to
impermeable paved surfaces where natural grassed traffic routes and
bound gravel driveways are preferred and where planning restrictions
are applied or cost savings are being considered.
