New Outdoor Clocks

Clocks with single or multiple dials for buildings and clock towers. Dial diameters from 450mm upwards, traditional, contemporary or bespoke designs. Single or multiple dial self contained clock units such as two dial wall mounted projecting clocks for retail and commercial premises and two or four dial free-standing pillar clocks. All types can incorporate backlighting, sign writing and chime options.

Clock Restoration

Restoration of historical clocks and chiming equipment on churches and public buildings throughout the UK and Ireland. Services include complete factory overhauls, dial restoration using finest quality gold leaf, automatic winding and automatic timekeeping for historical weight driven clocks. Service network currently responsible for over 4,500 clock installations each year.

Turrets & Towers

Traditional style roof mounted turrets with vent, clock, roof, windvane and finial options. Choice of two styles in three sizes for buildings up to five storeys in height. Custom designs built to special order.

Architectural Metalwork

Interpreting designs and creating structural engineering solutions for public art and architectural feature projects. Our metalwork expertise extends to sympathetic conservation and restoration for churches and listed buildings.

GRP Building Products

The versatility of GRP enables us to provide a wide variety of solutions for specialist building components. Our standard range of products includes door and window canopies, dormer window modules, door surrounds, replica brick chimneys, domes and finials. Bespoke work covers a wide range of concepts including major components for commercial and retail developments. Advanced patternmaking and moulding enables us to replicate traditional building materials including brick, tile, stone and slate. Metal-rich gel coats can be treated to give polished or verdigris effect.

Smith of Derby Group Heritage 1856 - 2006

John Smith founded the clockmaking business in 1856. The long established firms of J B Joyce of Whithcurch, Shropshire and William Potts of Leeds are now part of the Smith of Derby Group. We also have engineers based in the south and west of England, Scotland and Ireland.
