Gapseal
Floorboard Insulation
Gap filler floorboard filler gap
filling sealing strip floorboard insulation.
Gapseal is a draught excluder which is fitted in the gaps between
floorboards, keeping cold air out. Gapseal is fitted easily, without
adhesive and is almost invisible, retaining the natural look of finished
floorboards.
A guaranteed alternative to putty type fillers, papier mache or PVA glue /
sawdust mix and will not fall out when floorboards expand and contract.
Saves you money on your heating bill, and can also keep smells, noise and
insects from entering your rooms through floorboard gaps.
One roll consists of 40m of Gapseal - Discounts are available for orders of
4 rolls or more, please call for details.
Where and what for?
Gapseal, also referred to as Stopg-p, is used to insulate the gaps between
floorboards. It can also be used to insulate the gap between floor boards
and skirting boards, gaps in sash windows, or just about any other gap
between 1mm and 8mm wide. It can even be used to provide insulation to
floorboards that are under your carpet.
How?
The product is almost invisible once inserted. It sits up to 10mm below the
surface of the floor and can rest on the joists below. Because of the unique
shape and design of Gapseal it changes its profile to accommodate expansion
and contraction of wooden floorboards, therefore making it an ideal filling
method. Alternative solutions such as papier mache, wood filler, or silicon
cannot tolerate this expansion and contraction and whilst also being time
consuming and messy to insert, will not last more than 1 year typically.
How Fast?
Gapseal is quick, clean and easy to fit. It requires no DIY skills
whatsoever and the only tools required to insulate your room are a pair of
scissors and an old credit card or similar plastic implement.
Typically, a 12 foot square room can be insulated in less than an hour, and
will last a lifetime, compared to alternatives, which take many hours and
only last a very short time in comparison.
Can I take it out?
Gapseal can easily be extracted from the floor in case you need to access
the space below the floor boards, and then can be quickly re-inserted to
remake the seal and insulate the room once again.
How safe is it?
Gapseal is guaranteed to be free from manufacturing defects for a period of
5 years.
Adequate ventilation is required in all rooms, so a small area of the floor
boards should be left un-sealed. This is especially true where an appliance
such as a gas fire is in the room. If in any doubt regarding the safety of
insulating your room with a gas appliance fitted we would recommend the
consultation of a CORGI registered plumber and the fitting of a carbon
monoxide detector. | |
